World-renown automotive author and historian Karl Ludvigsen personally selected both dramatic action images and intimate technical details of the triumphant 904, 906, 907, 908 and 910 Porsche race cars.

He tells the story of how these cars, with their air-cooled flat-six and flat-eight engines, landed Porsche in the winners circle time and again in both international sports-car racing and the European Hillclimb Championship.

Early on in the narrative, Mr. Ludvigsen elaborates on why these triumphant race cars were called “White Racers” in the book’s title:

“Instead of the silver that racing Porsches had always worn, the Zuffenhausen entries were white.  This was an historic reversion to the classic German racing livery, used on the nation’s competition cars until silver came into fashion in the 1930s.”

Mr. Ludvigsen is probably best known by all of us Porschephiles for his Porsche magnum opus — Porsche: Excellence Was Expected.
