The Franzis Porsche 1:3-Scale Carrera Racing Engine Model Kit with Collector’s Book comes complete with very detailed reproductions of the actual Porsche Carrera racing engine’s crucial parts — including the iconic air-cooling fan which actually spins.

This is an historic model incarnation of the Type 547 engine developed by Ernst Fuhrmann for the Porsche 356 model initially, and then beefed up later for the Porsche 550 models.

Indeed, the Fuhrmann Type 547 engine put the “killer” in the 550s’ notorious “Giant Killer” global reputation.

The Type 547 was Porsche’s secret weapon, aiding and abetting the German marque in chalking up legendary win after win in international sports-car racing against much more formidable competitors.

Also included in the Franzis kit are a display stand and an electronic module simulating the sound of an actual air-cooled Porsche Carrera racing engine.

The flat-four boxer engine model kit’s transparent casing reveals all of the parts moving and operating internally, such as the belt-activated cams, as well as the crankshaft, pistons and valves.

Best of all, no glue is necessary — everything screws or snaps together with ease.  It takes about two very fun, educational hours to assemble.

The flat-four horizontally opposed engine kit consists of 300 parts, including LED-illuminated spark plugs and a functioning distributor.

The Franzis Porsche 1:3-Scale Carrera Racing Engine Model Kit also comes with a Collector’s Handbook.  Commissioned and written by the world-famous Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany, the Handbook’s documentation is extraordinary.

The Collector’s Handbook arrives complete with unique photos from the Porsche Archive, a concise history of this historic Type 547 Fuhrmann engine, and step-by-step assembly instructions.

The final 1:3-scale assembled motorized engine model requires 3x AA batteries — which are NOT included.
