When first appearing on the tarmac during the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche 917/20 in Pink Pig livery took the world’s racing press and race spectators by utter surprise.  Here it was, liveried in the lines and names of the various cuts of meat typically designated by German butchers.

At first, all thought it was some insulting joke at their expense foisted upon the racing world.  But the mighty Porsche 917/20 proved itself more than worthy by running its competitors ragged in those 24 hours at the Circuit de la Sarthe, though it did not win that year.  (See YouTube video above.)
