Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) enjoyed a very respectable month, announcing its Porsche April 2017 USA sales recently.
In fact, April was the best sales month ever for the American importer and distributor of Porsche vehicles from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. The company posted sales of 5,529 vehicles, a 2.2% increase over April 2016.
Year-to-date sales were no slackers either, chiming in at 18,247 vehicles, up 3.4% for 2017, versus 17,648 units in 2016.
The two front-runners in unit sales were the Panamera and the Boxster.
The Panamera garnered a whopping 196% increase over last year’s April. The 4-door Porsche sedan boasted a hefty 1,098 deliveries in what was its first full month on the market as a newly redesigned model — sans that unsightly hunchback hump at the hatch.
“We are pleased to see such a strong start for our new Panamera, surpassing the 1,000 unit per month mark for the first time ever,” commented Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA when asked about Porsche April 2017 USA sales.” April is always a strong month for Porsche, and 2017 is no different.”
The Boxster showed respectable legs too. Chalking up 319 deliveries, which translate to a 42.3% increase compared to last year, is the Porsche roadster that saved the company from going under following its debut in 1996.
The Boxster, incidentally, will be celebrated this year to commemorate its 20th anniversary in Monterey, California, during Car Week, at the Porsche Club of America’s Werks Reunion. This year, the Reunion moves from Carmel-by-the-Sea, to a brand-new location, the Corral de Tierra Country Club near Laguna Seca Raceway on Friday, August 18, 2017.
Increases were also notched up in Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales. U.S. figures manifested a 9.6% increase over the same period last year, with 1,641 units in 2017.
In addition, for the first 4 months in 2017, CPO sales show an uptick of 10.6% with 5,947 vehicles delivered.
