IT LOOKS LIKE 2015 WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR for Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), which imports and distributes all Porsche sports-car and SUV models in the good ol’ United States of America. While December 2015 sales of 3,936 units exceeded December 2014 vehicle sales by an impressive 20.2%, annual 2015 sales overall totaled 51,756 vehicles — a new PCNA sales record, with a 10.1% increase over 2014.
Klaus Zellmer, new President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America since last November, announced, “We are very proud that for the first time in the history of Porsche in the United States, sales have exceeded 50,000 vehicles in a year. Our current vehicle portfolio is the most attractive Porsche has ever had, which made this milestone attainable.”
Joe Lawrence, PCNA’s Executive Vice President and COO, also offered his thoughts on these handsome sales numbers: “For the fourth consecutive year, PCNA has set a new annual retail sales record by a double-digit margin. This continued success is a tribute to the collaboration between our highly professional sales organization and dedicated dealer network.”
When compared to December 2014 the following models all showed increased sales:
- Macan — the compact SUV boasted the greatest sales growth, a large but predictable 60 percent sales increase based on its huge popularity since its debut
- Boxster — the roadster showed a 48.6 percent upswing
- Cayenne — the larger Porsche SUV saw an increase in the month of December, sales rising by 31.6 percent
Finally, U.S. sales of Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles also set an all-time record, with December 2015 sales reaching 1,541 units. This translated to an annual record, as 14,749 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles were sold in 2015, a year-over-year increase of 25%.
Way to go, PCNA.
